Build & Score

Posted by admin On August - 17 - 2010

The game in its appearance is strikingly similar to the well known game, ‘Reiner Knizia’. But, the game ‘Campos’ – by Pietro Vozzolo’s – shares little in common with its game play & strategy, to that game.

This game resumes with each player receiving 3 to 5 hidden score cards. Along with these cards the player has two face-up triangular tiles. One of which’s laid out in the middle of the table. During a players turn, the player can choose to add both the tiles to the growing hexagonal mess or can add one of the two tiles to the central display. After placing the tiles the players can play the scoring card. The scoring cards instruct that the largest mass of color, say A; is/should be larger than the largest mass of color B. The score points are based and is equal to the number of hexagonal tiles in the largest mass of colour C.

At the end of every new turn, a player needs to draw one or two new tiles from growing contiguous mass, and in this way the game continues until someone runs out of scoring cards or when, either of the players runs of all the scoring cards. The game can also come to a grinding end when the players are no longer able to refill their visible display of tiles. In the end that player with the highest score, wins the game. The end of the game is decided once all the tiles are removed from the play.

Cameleon, a new card game is now in market

Posted by admin On May - 4 - 2010

R V Rigal released a new interesting card game on March 2010 called Cameleon. This was initiated by a French publisher and distributor Blackrock Editions. Cameleon can be enjoyed by 2 to 7 players and is based on memory/reaction card game. However the age group is determined as to be 5yrs and above for playing the game.

Containing 54 combination cards, the Cameleon card deck has each card to be identified by numbers, colors and object printed onto them. Among the deck there is only one wild cameleon card. The game resumes when each of the players begins to draw a card from the deck and positions it on the table with the face side up.

Then a person is chosen randomly who is then called as a dealer who starts turning the cards one by one from the deck. At this level of the game any of the players get the liberty to claim the top most card on the stack by covering it with their hand.

The dealer then does have to name the three elements on the card. The player gets to claim the card after guessing all of the three elements correctly. If all the three cards are successful gathered by the player each with one of the three elements, as defined on his target card wins the hand. Just by winning two hands before any of the other players, you can win the game of Cameleon.

The rules for the game in French, English and also in Dutch language can be found at the Blackrock Edition website.

How to play Spider Solitaire

Posted by admin On February - 18 - 2010

Spider Solitiare is a card game that is alike to klondike solitaire, but the major difference is it is played with four decks of cards instead of one.

While you play spider solitaire, the objective is to arrange all cards in descending order in the tableau. Once a total cascade of cards is finished (king-through-ace), it is detached from the card game.

If several decks are used, cards of opposite color and conflicting 1 rank may be arranged atop another. But you must remember to position the same color in order before the cards are removed from the session of the game. Once all eight cascades are detached from the card game, you’ve beaten spider solitaire! At the bottom of the screen you get the list of the number of turns it took for you to beat the card game, and your best score is registered.

Taboo – The Word Game

Posted by admin On January - 29 - 2010

Introduction:

In 1989, Hasbro created a word party game based on guess and supposition. The game enables the player’s partner(s) to guess the word on his/her card without using the word itself or five additional words listed on the card.

Another game similar to Taboo is Catch Phrase created by Hasbro, in which a player tries to get his/her teammates to guess words using clues and verbal signs. In the year 2000, the great Comedian, Chris Wylde hosted a game show based on the concept of Taboo with the same name on The New TNN.

Rules:

From four to ten an even number of players sit in an alternative manner in circle. Players take turns as the “giver,” who attempts to prompt his/her teammates to guess as many keywords as possible with the specified time. However, each card also has “taboo” (prohibited) words listed which may not be used in the verbal manner. Should the giver say one, a “censor” on the opposing team clicks the buzzer and the giver must move on to the next word. For example, the giver might have to make his/her team to say “cricket” without saying sport, game, activity or the word cricket itself.

The giver may only use dialogue to prompt his/her teammates; gestures, sounds (e.g. barking), or drawings are not normally permitted. Singing is allowed provided the singer is singing words rather than humming or whistling a tune. The giver’s hints may not rhyme with a taboo word, or be a short form of a taboo word.

While the giver is prompting the teammates they are allowed to make guesses as many times they want to with no penalties for wrong guesses. Once the team guesses the word correctly as written on the card, the giver can proceed to the next word. He then tries to get as many words as possible in the allotted time. The play is passed to the next adjacent player of the other team if the current player runs out of time. The playing team wins one point for correct guesses and gets one penalty point if “taboo” words are spoken or said and the opposing team wins one point each time the giver passes.

Shuffling of cards :

Posted by Lisa On July - 14 - 2009

Shuffling of cards :

Most often, players face a lot of problem in randomizing the cards, and this can create a huge problem when they are playing at a table with out a professional dealer. This mostly happen when they play home games or as a self dealt game where-in each player gets a turn to shuffle and deal. Players who cant shuffle face problems as shuffling is one of the key criteria for any kind of card game.showImage.aspx

The main objective of shuffling is to change the order of cards in the deck.
As time passes, people have started shuffling in various ways such as The Overhand Shuffle, Table Riffle Shuffle, In-air Riffle Shuffle, Faro Shuffle, Hindu Shuffle, Weave Shuffle etc. The way one shuffles differs, it is interestingly, country dependent. Overhand shuffle is most widely used in European countries and riffle shuffle in USA. In Europe, people find it difficult to Riffle shuffle, they feel its too fancy and prefer to carry on with Overhand shuffling.

Everyone can’t shuffle properly without practice or experience. You can learn it only by observing and then practicing until your hands get used to the motion.

You can view some online videos to master this art.

Kalooki Basic strategy

kalooki
Rummy is one of the most popular card games in the world. It has many variations, one of them is Kalooki. It’s a pretty exciting card game played by 2 to 4 players. It’s very popular and mostly played in UK. If you want to learn to play Kalooki, you should be aware of some basic strategies. Your Chances of winning can be doubled by following these simple rules and strategies.

Kalooki is played with a 2 deck of playing cards with 2 jokers in it i.e 106 cards in total. Each player is dealt 13 of these cards and take it in turns to get rid of them. The winner is the first one to do so.
The ability to draw right cards from the stock is the most important while playing this game. While discarding the cards, one should notice that your opponent shouldn’t get any benefit or it should not be utilizable.

Most important, you should always keep your eyes open and focus when your opponent discards and picks the cards, this can tell you a lot about the hand of your opponent.

If you meld a joker, make use of it. Make sure your opponents won’t replace it with another significant card.

Normally a player won’t be able to Go Kalooki if his/her opponents have already laid down their melds.

Two player card games

I always had this penchant for card games.. so, I thought why don’t I write down some basics regarding them…

Two player card games are very easy to learn. There are two types of two player card games – “Classic two player games” and “Specialty deck card games”.

Classic two player games are played with a normal deck of cards. These types of games include Go Fish, Piquet, Cribbage, Speed, Crazy Eights and Bezique. In specialty deck card games, special deck cards are used. The games such as Uno and Phase Ten fall into category of specialty deck card games.images

Bezique is played with 4 sets of 32 cards. The Rubicon Bezique is a most popular form of Bezique. In this game, each player gets nine cards and the remaining cards become the stock. Different combinations of cards have different points. Pinochle is also a card game, which is derived from Bezique.

Cribbage is played with a deck of 52 cards. Each player gets six cards. A player has to achieve up to 31 cards. The Cribbage Board is used to keep the scores. Each player scores points for each series. Piquet is a popular card game, which is played with a deck of 32 cards. You can score points if you have cards that are in a sequence, in highest order or in a suit

Go Fish is especially popular among children. It’s a simple game where in one player asks his opponent for cards of a particular class. The opponent has to produce all the cards of that particular class, if he doesn’t have them he‘ll say Go Fish…

Another game is UNO; it’s easy to learn but offers players plenty of twists and surprises. It is one of the most popular card games in the world and is played with a specially printed deck of cards. Each player receives seven cards. The player has to play a card that matches the special symbol of the exposed card. Draw, Wild, Reverse and Skip are the special effects in Uno and are used to improve your chances of winning.

Just don’t forget to say ‘UNO!’ when you’re down to your last card. images7

Phase 10 is based on a variant Rummy. It requires a special deck and can be played by two to six people. To be the first player to complete all 10 Phases is the object of the game. There are 108 cards in a deck which include 96 numbered cards, 2 Wild cards in each of the same colors and 4 blue Skip cards.

Nowadays in the world of Internet there are scores of online two player games available.

Such online game is played against an online opponent or the computer. These games have an good user interface, personalized graphics, excellent sound and scoring sound and scoring selections.
