Police Raids Cockfight Gambling Site In Texas
To the organizers of the event, it was supposed to be a day that was filled with amusement park type activities. But unfortunetly, one of activities drew the attention of police in Parker County, Texas, on Saturday.
Police raided the property and officers rounded up 176 suspects in the case. They were all arrested and charged with varying offenses such as gambling or cruelty to animals. A major underground cockfight gambling operation was the cause of the raid.
Police had been suspecting of such activities in the property for weeks, and Roy Dale Saxton was arrested as the proprietor of the operation. He was arrested and charged with a Class C misdemeanor gambling charge.
Although he was released after posting $300 bail, Saxton may now face more serious charges. He has a long rap sheet of crimes, including convictions that have Saxton on parole until 2015. The new charges may affect that parole.
Authorities seized enough evidence related to the cockfighting ring. There were magazines, razor blades, and six dead roosters that were found on the property. Over 100 other roosters were saved and taken to an animal shelter. Im sure PETA is going to make rounds to this property soon.
In addition to the gambling related arrests, illegal drugs were found at the scene. Marijuana, illegal prescription pills, and cocaine were seized. Another arrest was of a suspect who was wanted for murder. If you have come across such cruel activities in your vicinity then do contact the local police.

Basic Blackjack Rules
Have you ever played Blackjack? It is a card game played between a playerand a dealer, immensely popular at both online and land casinos. Check outthe rules:
The game kicks off with the players making their bets, which may bestipulated by the betting limits of the table. The dealer makes two passes -the deals two cards to each player face up. As per some blackjack rules, they
may be dealt face down too. Then he deals two cards to himself – one face upand the other face down.
If you are a player, your aim must be to end the game with a hand totalhigher than the dealer’s hand and not to exceed 21. Cross 21 and you lose!In blackjack jargon, it is said to Bust.As a player, you will be playing only against the dealer so the other player cards are not important unless you are counting cards.
Once cards are dealt to all the players, you all must settle on how to play them. The dealer goes on from one player to another and you need to choose whether to take another card (Hit) or not to (Stand).
Besides, players may choose to Double down or Split.Once you players are done, the dealer plays his hand. Dealers follows strictdealer rules when making a decision. The rule concerns the hand value of 17,which states the dealer should take cards when his hand is 16 or less and stand on 17 or higher. And, it would mean ‘Dealer Stands on All 17’s’.
*Card Values*
* A – 1 OR 11.
* 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9: 2 to 9 – valued as indicated.
* 10’s and Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) – valued as 10.
The suits of cards have no priority.
Blackjack (a NATURAL, a Natural 21) is a hand of two cards made of an ace
and a 10-valued card.
Natural beats a hand of 3 cards with the value of 21.
Soft and Hard Hands
As per blackjack rules, Ace stands for 1 or 11. Hence, the risk of exceeding
21 is lower. Ace being counted as 11, the hand is considered to be a soft
one as the player can take an extra card sans busting risk. A hand of an Ace
and 6 can be counted as 7 or 17 depending on whether the player decides to
Hit or Stand.
A hand, where an Ace can only be counted as 1, is called a Hard Hand as the
Ace cannot change its value now. If your hand was Ace and 5 and you Hit, the
card dealt to you is a 9. Your hand then is only 15, but not 25.
Player’s Choice
With your card, you have to decide on how to play your hand. You have
options galore – you can Hit or Stand, or even Split cards if your hand is
of two cards of the same value. You can even Double down if your hand is
likely to beat the dealer hand with one extra card.
Hold on, the last two options may be only done with the first two cards and
that would mean raising the bet twice.
Basic Blackjack Options
Dealer plays according to the rules and hits on 16 or less and stands on 17
or higher.
HIT
As a player, you may hit as many times as you want until your hand is 21 or
more.
STAND
The value of your hand will be compared with the dealer’s hand.
SPLIT
In case first two cards dealt were a pair of cards of the same value, you as
the player can split them forming two hands, thereby increasing the bet
twice. After that, you decide how to play each hand separately as the dealer
deals the second card. The perfect choice of when to split concerns
splitting Aces and 8’s. Take a look at the blackjack chart for more options.
DOUBLE DOWN
If you are confident of winning with one extra card, you can choose to
Double Down. The bet will be doubled and the dealer will deal only one more
card. This option may only be chosen on first two cards and sometimes after
split. Does your first two cards make a hand of 9, 10 or 11? Well, then you
have a great chance of winning with one more card especially in case the
dealer shows a small card.
INSURANCE
Insurance is an extra bet offered when the dealer shows an Ace. This bet
costs half of the original bet and will protect you in case the dealer does
have a Natural. After the Insurance bet has been taken or ignored, the
dealer checks his Hole card.
If the dealer has a Natural, you player stand to lose original bets and all
the Insurance bets win 2-to-1. Otherwise, the Insurance bets are lost and
the players keep on playing their hands.
EVEN MONEY
In case player has a Natural (Blackjack) and the dealer’s up card is an Ace,
you will be offered the Even Money bet. What if the dealer also has a
blackjack? Don’t worry, this bet will save you, the player, from a push.
Even Money bet equals half the original bet as the Insurance. If the dealer
has a blackjack, you, the player, will get your initial bet back and get the
Even Money bet 2 to 1.
SURRENDER
Think you are not going to make it? Fret not! Go for the surrender option,
which provides a chance to surrender half the original bet. It is not found
in too many casinos though. This bet is made prior to making any decisions
like Hit or Stand and gives you a chance to save half of the original bet.
The surrender option can be of two types EARLY or LATE. Learn what it means-
Early Surrender lets a player protect half his bet before the dealer checks
for blackjack. And as it is of advantage to the player, it is rarely met.
The Late Surrender is more often met at blackjack tables. This version of
blackjack rules allows the player to give up his bet only after the dealer
checks his hole card for a blackjack.
So, with all this knowledge, all we can say is keep your cool and – Go ahead
and rock the table!

Blackjack
One of world’s most popular card games is Blackjack. It is as favourite in casinos and professional tournaments as it is as a pastime played among friends and family. The origin of the game can be dated back to the seventeenth century gambling clubs of France and its maiden name was 21, which stands for the ideal numerical card combination required win in blackjack betting. In an ideal case a player should have an ace with the value of eleven along with a card with the value of ten.
The game begins with each player placing their bet in the middle of the table and after that each player is dealt two cards face up. The dealer then deals to himself a card face up which is known as the “up card,” and one card face down, known as the “hole card” .If the dealer receives a ten or an ace, he might have a blackjack and then all the players lose their bets to the house.
After receiving two cards each player has the option to “hit” (ask for another card), “stay,” or, if he happens to receive two of the same cards, “split,” which carries one card to the next hand. Depending on the casino in some cases the player is allowed to surrender his cards and keep half of his bets if he receives a threatening card and wishes to quit. One of the most popular variations of the game is the Las Vegas Blackjack.
Although blackjack has a more than 300-year old history, its popularity snowballed globally via free online blackjack versions. In an online game not only can a player connect to a community of thousands of other players, he is also be kept up-to-date on the myriad of opportunities available to play free blackjack games.
In the online version the player can start off by playing for free and then upgrade to real money stakes when he gets a bit accustomed to the game. One basic strategy to increase the chance to win is to sit next to the dealer, where the player receives two cards last, giving him the advantage of seeing the cards of the rest of the players and help start the blackjack card counting which involves intensive tracking of all the cards dealt in each round. This help the player decide on whether to hit, stay or surrender. However, this strategy is less effective in case of a a casino blackjack download where each round begins with a virtual shuffle on the computer.
Online casinos have become widely popular and most of them offer multi-language support to enable players from around the globe to have easy access to the game. Whether one plays for fun or for real dough, the realistic look and feel is what makes these online casinos a favourite.

Catch the bluff
Catching your opponent red handed when he’s bluffing has got to be one of the most satisfying things in poker. A bluff is always a high risk move which carries good rewards for the bluffer who has the temerity to drive the move home. Whenever you lose money to a bluff you look a bit like a fool: outsmarted, outplayed and left in the dust. This is exactly why it’s so great to bust a bluff: it’s like catching a daring thief.
There are several ways to keep bluffers honest. One of the most satisfying is through another bluff. Called floating, this move allows the savvy player to defeat the bluffer with his own weapons. Floating is meant to defeat the c-bet which is getting more and more popular these days. Because online games are more and more competitive, preflop aggression is more and more prevalent too. Players who fire out a preflop bet or raise, will often fire a second bullet called a continuation bet (c-bet) on the flop to show strength and thus to make the others fold to their bluff. What’s happening here is either a semi-bluff or a full on pure bluff. This is where the floater comes into the picture. He calls the bluffer’s c-bet and tags along to see the turn. This move will often plant the seeds of doubt into the bluffer’s head, so chances are he’ll just check on the turn, thus giving away the fact that he doesn’t really have anything. This show of weakness is the floater’s clue to swing into action. He makes a pot a size bet thus letting the c-bettor know he means business. The floater’s goal is always to make his opponent fold.
Although floating is generally considered a pure bluff which means the floater is not supposed to have any sort of a hand, if you want to make the most of the move you’d better make sure you have some equity in the hand on which you’re floating. You need that equity to turn the move into something of a semi-bluff, which offers you two ways to take down the pot. Plan A is always to make your opponent fold, but if plan A fails, you have a plan B on which to fall back. You don’t need an excellent drawing hand. A weak one like as gutshot straight draw will do fine.
Another way to bust a bluff is through the bluff catcher. The bluff catcher is a hand, which is not particularly strong, and which is definitely not worthy of value-betting. The bluff catcher represents the lower end of your calling range – that’s the best way to define it I suppose. That means your hand doesn’t really have any other value besides being good at catching bluffs.
The toughest thing in deploying the bluff catcher is actually recognizing the hand. The reason why it’s tough to recognize is that there’s no way to see it before the river card lands.
Like everything in poker, successful bluff catching requires that you have a knowledge of your opponent’s playing patterns (like bluffing frequency) and that you can put him on a fairly accurate range.
If you get the range part of the equation right, you’ll be able to deduce the bluffing frequency fairly accurately.
As a general rule, whatever you do at the table, make sure you do it while signed up to a rakeback deal. A deal like the full tilt rakeback or the entraction rakeback will offer you a serious long-term edge regardless of whether you are a cash game or a tournament player.

Top 8 Poker Etiquettes
Whether you’re playing a poker game at home or in a casino, there are some basic poker etiquettes that every player should know and must follow. These basic rules of good conduct makes sure that the game is fair and runs smoothly.
1. Wait….Don’t Play Out of Turn At time you may be super excited about how good your hand is and you can hardly wait to raise the pot, but you have to wait until it’s your turn. Same goes for folding hands when you can’t wait to get rid of them. If you are excited, then it sends out signals to all other players and they will be in a better position to decide their game.
2. Don’t Jabber about your cards while the hand is still going on Once you’ve folded, it’s fun to chat about what could have happened if you were still in, but those who are still in might make use of this information to plan their strategy. For example, if you had a 7-2 as your pocket cards
in Hold’em and the flop comes 7-7-2, if you blurt out that you would have had a full house, everyone will know that it’s unlikely that any player
still in the hand has the full house, making it hard to bluff and represent that hand.
3. Why show your cards? Don’t do it. When you fold, make sure you don’t flash or flip over your cards as you toss them. Again, if players know what you fold, it’ll give them indication that may change how the rest of the hand plays out. Unless you are all-in and heads up, there is no reason to show or expose your cards until the showdown.
4. Don’t Splash the Pot There are two bad betting habits that you see a lot in the movies which are a big no-no’s in real life. The first is when a player tosses his bet in a big mess in the center of the pot. That’s called Splashing the Pot, and it makes it hard to tell how much you’ve bet. A more polished way is just to stack your chips neatly in front of you to bet.
5. Don’t Make String Bets The second bad habit from movies is the string bet, which is when a player goes “I’ll call your 500…. and raise another 1000!” You have to declare whether you’re simply calling or raising right away — once you say “call,” that’s all you can do. If you’re going to raise, say raise and the amount right away. This is especially important in casinos.
6. Always be polite Even if it’s not your day and luck is not favoring you, it doesn’t give you any authority to curse other players or be rude to the dealer. It will win you neither pots nor friends.
7. If You Show One, Show All If you win a hand before the showdown and you want to show your cards anyway, you can’t just show them to the one player to your left or right, you have to turn them up for the whole table to see. After all, why should only the lucky players next to you get to know what you have been holding?
8. Do Pay Attention If you’re in a hand, don’t let others remind you that it’s your turn — be a part of the action so the game keeps moving. Using cellphone while playing is a real bad idea.

Forms of Poker Games
Texas Holdem : Texas Hold’em first played in Las Vegas is the most popular form of poker today. It is one of the most popular Poker Variants and all time favorite of casino players. The advent of online poker further added to the popularity of Texas Hold’em.
In this game each player has seven cards. It is similar to seven card stud, the main difference being that all the players get just two face-down cards and five face-up community cards.
The most popular texas holdem games are Limit and No Limit Hold ?em
games. If you are a beginner it is good to start playing Limit Texas Hold’em first. It is a very easy game to learn; just a few hours of practice and you can be playing fairly well.
No-limit Holdem is more popular that limit holdem. In No-Limit Hold’em you play your opponents than just playing the cards. A good hand in no limit game can make a large enough bet to discourage players from chasing a draw hand.
Seven Card Stud Poker: Seven Card Stud is a form of stud poker with three
variations – low, high and high-low. In seven-card low, the player with the lowest hand wins while in seven-card high the player with the highest-ranking wins. In the high-low game of seven card stud; players with both the highest hand and the lowest hand compete to win the pot, claiming half each. It is a very easy game to learn; just a few hours of practice and you can be playing fairly well.
Omaha: If you are familiar with Texas Holdem you can easily learn Omaha.
In texas holdem you deal with two cards whereas in omaha you get four. However, you have to use two cards though you have more hand combination. Omaha has 2 versions – Omaha High only and Omaha High-Low Eight or Better. The Hi-Lo seems to be the most popular than Omaha high only as it allows you to split the pot with the lowest
qualifying low hand.
I feel the above forms of poker are suitable for beginners.
I would keep adding more from time to time. However, I would recommend you to start playing at freerolls first and when familiar fully with the game start playing for real money.
